Is it possible to integrate biodiversity protection with economic development?
Initiated in 16 countries, BIODEV2030 is an experimental approach to developing science-based voluntary sector commitments. It has multiple objectives:
- diagnose the threats to biodiversity and define the key sectors for the country's economy and for the preservation of biodiversity, on which to focus,
- encourage dialogue between all stakeholders: governments, private sector, civil society, etc.
- define voluntary sectoral commitments to help halt the decline in biodiversity by 2030.
